Golden State Warriors

Chase Center
October 02, 2020 by Luke Anton

The 2019-20 Golden State Warriors can be defined as a Lost Season.

What did we learn?

From dynasty to dump in the blink of an eye, it was a harrowing beginning for the brand new $1.4 billion Chase Center.

If the Warriors were light years ahead, then they came back from the future and went straight to the G League. (Yet it’s still an endearing horizon ahead.)

In just the fourth game, Steph broke his hand and did not play again until March 5th, the only other game he would play in the 2019-20 campaign. But even before Aron Baynes fell on Steph’s hand on Halloween Eve, it was looking extremely bleak for this year’s Warriors.

It turns out that the Warriors, in fact, did not need $100 million tied up in just their backcourt, trading D-Lo to Minnesota for Andrew Wiggins in a head scratcher of a trade. Wiggins is sort of a shooting guard, but we suspect that Wiggy’s time reppin’ the gold and blue might also be limited.

A pleasant surprise was learning that Marquese Chriss is the most underrated power dunker in the league. Quese consistently attacks the rim with ferocity and we love him for that. Who else loves it? Play-by-play man Bob Fitzgerald and his new partner, Kelenna Azubuike. We missed Jim Barnett, sure, but we definitely enjoyed the new pairing of Bob and Kelenna.

So yeah, Marquese Chriss and the announcers were our favorite part of the 2019-20 Golden State Warriors.

Life really does come at you fast.

What are the answers to our Season Preview Final Questions?

2019-20 Steph > 2015-16 Steph ?

That’s gonna be a no from us, dawg.

When will Klay return?  We have a feeling it will be at the perfect time.

Klay did not return. There was absolutely no reason for him to do so.

Would our preseason Over/Under prediction have hit?

Never underestimate the heart of a (three-time) champion.  OVER 48.5 wins.  (59% winning pct)

Warriors 2019-20 final record: (15-50)  23% winning pct

NOPE, our preseason Over/Under prediction would NOT have hit.  Not even close.

What’s Next?

  • Figure out what to do with the #2 pick in the 2020 NBA Draft.

  • Figure out what to do with Andrew Wiggins ridiculous $30+ million per year contract. Perhaps Bob Myers can make a deal with the #2 pick and Wiggins. That would be ideal. Who would be the best fit with Steph, Klay and Dray? (Besides Kevin Durant, of course.) Philly wouldn’t and shouldn’t, but Ben Simmons would be perfect.

  • Unleash Pascanimal! Eric Paschall had some dominate performances as a rookie, including 34 points on 19 shots on his 23rd birthday on a random Monday night last November.

  • Get the Splash Bros. back to full health and back on the court together for the first time since June 2019.

Favorite Warriors Highlight from the 2019-2020 Season:

Another tight one at the Chase Center.

Last Friday night, we were there. D-Lo hit the clutch go-ahead step-back. pic.twitter.com/LdiubTXCcq

On December 20th, 2019, we attended the New Orleans Pelicans vs. the Golden State Warriors game at the new Chase Center live and in person. The Warriors pulled out the W behind D-Lo’s 25 points and the above slick go-ahead step-back jumper. Warriors fans after the game were PUMPED and could be overheard yelling: “I can’t believe we actually won!”
